Straighten Teeth in Apex with Invisalign
Many of our patients wish for a straighter, more beautiful smile but (understandably) have concerns about wearing brackets and wires for years on end. Let's face it; brackets and wires can be really distracting, and they’re not exactly the image of professionalism.
At Olive Chapel Family Dentistry, Dr. Dustin Prusik has achieved certification in Invisalign orthodontic treatment in order to provide our patients with a more attractive alternative to traditional orthodontics.
Misaligned teeth are about more than just how you look. A properly aligned bite can help you avoid decay caused by overlapping and make it easier to place restorations on your teeth.

What Is Invisalign?
We use this powerful, life-changing tool to straighten teeth and improve smiles in a more conservative fashion. Invisalign can also be used as an adjunct to move teeth into the proper position and improve the outcome of crowns and veneers.
Using clear plastic aligner trays, we can gradually move your teeth without the need for bulky brackets. You wear your aligner tray sets for approximately two to three weeks at a time, and then we will give you a replacement. Each aligner tray set gradually shifts your teeth into the smile you want.
How Invisalign Can Impact Your Smile
Having straight teeth looks great and enhances your appearance. A well-aligned smile also leads to better oral health and a brighter dental future in general. Not only are crooked teeth sometimes unattractive, but if you don’t fix them, they can cause costly dental problems that you’ll have to fix. The following smile problems require orthodontic treatment in Apex:
- Overcrowded teeth
- Unusually rotated teeth
- Gaps between teeth
If you are considering Invisalign so you can rid yourself of any of these dental issues, then give your Invisalign dentist in Apex, NC a call today at (919) 335-6133 to determine what your smile options are.
Can Invisalign Fix My Smile?
At Olive Chapel Family Dentistry, we see many patients who used traditional braces in the past but are now experiencing some relapse. Relapse can happen when patients fail to routinely wear their retainer after the treatment is finished.
Our teeth never stop moving or shifting, so your retainer is there to prevent your teeth from shifting back into their old positions. Not wearing your retainer means your time and investment are no longer present as your teeth have relapsed into their crooked positions.
We've gone over why straightening your teeth is essential for your dental health and oral hygiene, it's vital that we protect your teeth from tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease.
Apex, NC orthodontics can correct your relapse—but this go-around is without the obstruction of wires and brackets.
Benefits of Invisalign Treatment
Many of our Apex patients love the inconspicuous nature of invisible aligners. Since they are clear, they don’t detract from your smile. This is perfect for professional adults who may not want their orthodontic treatment to be the first thing you see.
Traditional metal braces can be uncomfortable and even painful with their brackets and wires, but Invisalign clear braces are made from a soft plastic that doesn’t have any sharp edges that could cut into your cheeks. Since we customize the aligner trays to your mouth, they will fit snugly around your teeth.
Easier to Clean
Metal braces can be a little difficult to keep clean since you have to clean around wires, elastics, bands, screws, brackets, and additional hardware. On top of that, the hardware itself can collect food particles, plaque biofilm, and harmful acids. Special equipment is often used to keep metal braces clean so that tooth decay does not occur. With Invisalign, cleaning is as simple as taking out your clear aligners, wiping them down, and popping them back in! Patients never have to worry that their oral hygiene will suffer due to orthodontic treatment. Keeping your teeth and gums healthy has never been easier.
Fewer Visits to the Dentist
Traditional braces require regular trips to the dentist to tighten your brackets and wires, but Invisalign saves you time. In fact, you may only need to see your dentist once every six weeks. You'll experience fewer dental emergency visits, without the hassle or fear of brackets and wires breaking.
Orthodontics for an Active Lifestyle
Whether you or your child is active in sports or enjoys being extremely mobile, Invisalign can offer a more comfortable experience and additional protection than any other orthodontic treatment. Stay active in all the sports and activities you love!
No Worries About Food
One of the worst things about straightening your teeth is restricting the type of food you can feasibly eat. Given that food can get stuck in traditional braces, many foods are suddenly off-limits, making an already tough situation rougher. These food issues are not a problem with Invisalign. All you have to do is take out the clear plastic aligner trays, and you can eat whatever you want, even if it’s crunchy, sticky, or chewy!
A Bright Dental Health Future
Crooked teeth make it harder to keep your teeth and gums clean, which means you’re at risk for tooth decay, gum disease, infection, and more. Orthodontic treatment is just good for your oral health. Getting rid of overcrowding or gaps means you can take care of your teeth easier, which leads to a path of good dental health overall.
Amazing Straight Teeth
It almost goes without saying, but in the end, the smile you have worked for will be worth it. Invisalign can get you to the smile you’ve always wanted, and with minimal discomfort or intrusion in your life. Invisalign does not impact your day-to-day life dramatically but still provides outstanding results for our patients. No one will notice you are wearing your aligner trays because they are crystal clear and discreet.
How Invisalign Works
Dr. Prusik will perform a comprehensive consultation to ensure that you are a good candidate for Invisalign. Invisalign works best for our older teen and adult patients with simple to moderate orthodontic cases such as overbite, underbite, crossbite, crowding, or overlapping and also for patients who have experienced orthodontic relapse from not wearing a retainer.
Once we determine that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we will take photos, digital x-rays, and molds of your teeth to send to our lab, where they will design your aligner trays. You should wear your trays for about 22 hours per day. We will schedule regular visits in our Apex, North Carolina, dental office to ensure that your treatment stays on track and to make any adjustments necessary to your treatment plan.
Your compliance is essential! In order to maintain your new smile, the orthodontic retainer must be worn for the recommended number of hours throughout the day in order to refrain your teeth from shifting back to pre-orthodontic positions.
